True to legendary Danish designer Hans Wegner’s maxim that a chair should be ‘beautiful from all angles’, the Union stool features legs and braces that are effortlessly interconnected––with two separate sets of braces positioned on two separate planes––making for a striking silhouette when viewed in any direction.
But that, of course, is just the base.
Balanced atop the stool’s expert geometric woodwork is its gracefully concaved saddle: a popular form of seating that, in the case of the Union, takes on an even more iconic shape.
Diligently handcrafted into a softly arched design, the Union’s saddle recalls Wegner’s own indelibly famous ‘Round Chair’––a seat so celebrated it served as the backdrop to the 1960 U.S. presidential debate and was ultimately known simply as ‘The Chair’.
